A premier tiger reserve where the Deccan Plateau meets the Western Ghats, home to 150+ tigers and vast elephant herds.
Bandipur National Park is one of India's finest tiger reserves, part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve — the largest protected area in southern India. Once the private hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Mysore, it now protects over 150 Bengal tigers, large populations of Asian elephants, leopards, sloth bears, gaurs, and over 200 bird species. Jeep safaris at dawn and dusk offer the best wildlife sightings. The park's mix of deciduous forest, grasslands, and the Moyar River gorge creates a stunning backdrop for any safari.
