Where sacred temples meet pristine shores
Om Beach, Kudle Beach and the cliffside trails that make Gokarna one of India's most beloved coastal destinations.
Gokarna is a small temple town on the Arabian Sea that has evolved into one of Karnataka's most beloved beach destinations. Unlike its busier neighbours, Gokarna retains a spiritual, laid-back atmosphere.
Om Beach is shaped like the sacred Om symbol. Kudle Beach offers golden sand and sunset views. Half Moon and Paradise Beaches are reachable by a scenic cliffside trek through coconut groves.
The Mahabaleshwara Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, draws pilgrims year-round and gives the town its spiritual heart.
Gokarna is well connected by road and rail from Bengaluru, Goa and Mangalore. The best time to visit is October to March.
